A few years ago I was introduced to scrap booking by my daughter-in-law. It took no time at all and I was totally immersed in scrapbook designs, colored papers, decorative elements and journaling. I just love it. For a while it took over my life with so many photos of my children and grandchildren to scrapbook.
Traveling and scrapbook designs
Then my traveling, that bought a whole new meaning to scrapbook designs, and sometimes I have struggled for new ideas and stimulus. I believe however that scrapbooking should be all about what makes you happy!
Develop your own ideas!
Your own ideas and scrapbook designs tend to develop as you go along. Much depends on how much time and money you have to spend on your hobby, and how you like your pages to look. I’ve always kept my travel scrapbook designs fairly simple.
I doubt if anyone is totally satisfied with every page they do, and when you do so many, as I do, my pages only gets one chance. For China in the main, I used a beautiful hand-woven paper in wonderful hues to complement the photo’s, along with my embellishment ideas.
Sometimes I use my own photo’s blown up but printed in draft or fax which provides a softer image, such as the pink blossoms in “Farewell Forbidden City”, and the gray twiggy branches in the Yonghe Lamasery page border to decorate my pages and act a s a foil for the photos.
I did find that stickers didn’t stick very well on this soft hand-woven paper and the edges of the paper were fragile. The photos of the Marble Boat and Jade Belt Bridge on the design page for the Summer Palace have white borders, and I had white borders printed on most of my photos at that time.
More interaction with other scrappers is a great way to create enthusiasm, stimuli and exchange ideas. I would love to hear from other scrappers out there, with like interests. Please email me or leave a comment.
Just for interest sake and to share, I have placed a few photo’s of some of my early scrapbooking efforts in scrapbook designs for your viewing on this page. Just click on the photo for a larger image. These are photo’s from my trip to China in 2006 with a small group tour. The Forbidden City and Summer Palace were so awesome! An unforgettable experience.
Happy scrapping until next time!
