A traditional Khmer meal at the Lotus Blanc Practice Restaurant
Lunch took us to the Phnom Penh restaurant of Lotus Blanc, which is a vocational training center in the hospitality industry. It trains ex-street children; children who were found scouring the local area’s garbage dump to survive. The Lotus Blanc restaurant is a French NGO, “PSE-Pour un Sourire d’Enfant” (For the Smile of a Child), founded in 1993 by Marie-France and Christian des Pallières to help underprivileged children in Phnom Penh.
There are over 300 disadvantaged youths from poor families every year, provided with training and the necessary practical skills to work in the hospitality industry. Lotus Blanc has two practice restaurants in Phnom Penh.
It is a very nice restaurant with great food, supporting such an excellent cause in providing work and training to young disadvantaged youth. It provides hands on training in both French and Khmer cuisine.
We enjoyed our meal immensely. The young waiters, shy and smiling, and so ready to please were a pleasure to have serve us. I only thought to take pics of three of the five courses served for lunch. I was too busy enjoying my meal. The Lotus Blanc restaurant also serves good French wines and cold beer.
The Buffet meal adjacent in the restaurant looked very inviting. It was obviously very popular, judging by the number of people who came in whilst we were lunching.
It was great to sit and relax at the Lotus Blanc Restaurant and enjoy such a delicious lunch, knowing also, that you were supporting a worthy cause.

it’s great to know that there still many humble individuals who are concerned enough to provide employment to the street children. My respect to the people behind Lotus Blanc. Thanks Lyn 🙂
