Kampong Trach Cave Site – Favorite foto
My favorite foto for this Wednesday, taken during an interesting part of our trip through Cambodia. Our tour group visited a cave site set in a rugged mountain area outside Kampot. After journeying from the entrance cave through a long dark tunnel, the cave opened into a small clearing with soaring rock walls reaching for the sky. Apparently the center of the limestone mountains collapsed at one time hundreds of years ago, leaving this clearing. Many cave openings and tunnels lead off from this clearing to explore (only with a guide). Some of the caverns (like the one above) used during the time of the Khmer Rouge, pretty spooky.
